Maya Endsley

Visual Artist

Maya Endsley is an emerging artist based in Austin, Texas, whose work delves into the intersections of femininity, art therapy, and personal narrative. A recent graduate of Texas State University with a BFA and a minor in Psychology, she draws inspiration from her experiences as a Hispanic woman raised in the Southern United States.

Endsley’s multidisciplinary practice spans painting, drawing, and mixed media, creating compositions that celebrate the complexity and diversity of the female experience. Her art integrates delicate line work with bold, textured layers, often incorporating personal symbols and handwritten elements. These visual journals explore themes of identity, transformation, and healing.

Deeply committed to the therapeutic potential of art, Endsley uses her creative process as a means of self-discovery and advocacy for mental health awareness. Her work has been exhibited in local galleries, including the Spellerberg Projects gallery in Lockhart, Texas, and is increasingly recognized for its resonance with viewers. Endsley is dedicated to using her art as a platform for positive social change.

"I've been absolutely terrified every moment of my life and I've never let it keep me from a single thing that I wanted to do." — Georgia O'Keeffe

As an independent artist, I am deeply inspired by the complexity and diversity of the female experience. My work, which spans painting and mixed media, delves into the intricacies of female identity through experimental self-portraiture.

Drawing on traditional techniques and non-traditional materials, I create textured, layered pieces that invite viewers to engage on a visceral level. Influenced by strong historical figures like Frida Kahlo and Georgia O'Keeffe, my art challenges conventional notions of beauty and representation. Through my work, I aim to empower women to embrace their unique identities and reject societal expectations.

Ultimately, my goal is to create a space where women are seen, heard, and celebrated in all their complexity. Through my art, I seek to inspire others to recognize the inherent beauty and power of the feminine experience.
